Stale Content? 10 Ideas to Keep Things Fresh!

Is your content starting to feel a little bit ‘Meh’? Not to fear! Here are 10 great content ideas you can try out on social to give your personal profile or brand a little re-fresher.

1. Polls:

Get your audience involved. On Instagram and Facebook, you now have the ability to ask a question and get instant responses from your followers. If you use this feature right, you can gain powerful insights as to what your customers want to see more (or less) of from you. For example – creating a poll asking “what type of content do you want to see more of? (With the choice of A or B) can let you know what your viewers want from you. You can have a lot of fun with these polls, and keep it light and funny. Best of all, you can set your poll so viewers can see which response is ranking higher/lower.

2. Infographics:

If you have a lot of information you want to get across to your followers, an infographic is a great option. Infographics can take boring stats and turn them into easy-to-read images. You don’t need to be a graphic designer to create infographics, as there are many programs that can help you get on your way. One of our favourites, especially for beginners, is Canva.

3. Video / Live:

Video is one of the most powerful content types around, but, it can also be one of the most intimidating. In this day and age, the majority of videos on social media are consumed without volume – so keep this in mind when you are creating your content. Captions are a great way to make sure your audience knows what is happening in your video, without actually listening to it. Also, keep in mind that some platforms have an auto-play feature, which will show the first three seconds of your video without the click of a viewer. Because of this, try to make your first 3 seconds count! Grab your audience’s attention, or try to get your product, service, or message across. Live videos are also a great way to refresh your social media content.

4. Ask a question – or fill in the blank:

You want to have followers who are actively engaged. A great way to promote this is by getting them involved. Asking a question can be as simple as a tweet, caption, or status. Keep your questions relevant to your audience, and optimize your question to each platform you choose to use.

5. Behind the scenes:

This one is pretty straight forward, but can be very effective. You want your followers to get to know you/ your brand on a deeper level than just promotions and sales. Letting your followers in on what happens behind the Instagram filter is a great way to build brand authenticity. Behind the scenes content can be as simple of snapping a photo of your office life / production process / or daily chores. Don’t be afraid to let your followers to peek behind the curtain, as great brands should have nothing to hide.

6. Meet the gang – your staff / team:

Have you ever been to a website where there are no images of staff, just generic stock photos of smiling faces? Yeah – creepy, right? It is human nature to want to see who you are interacting with, so don’t hide your staff! Depending on the size of your business, “meet the team” posts can be a weekly/ monthly occurrence. This type of content can also help to boost staff morale, and build strong company community.

7. Plug your blog:

If you have a blog with content relevant to your business, don’t be afraid to promote it. If you do not have a blog, try to find relevant articles or content that you can re-tweet, re-gram, or share with your followers; this is an easy way to curate content without taking a huge cut of your time.

8. Meme:

I don’t care what they say about memes. Done the right way, on the right platform, they can bring a smile to your followers face – and become ultra sharable. Memes are good for highlighting a shared sentiment (such as a dislike for something – or excitement for an event/ occasion). There are lots of apps out there to quickly turn a photo into a meme – and we recommend using your own photos, to keep it more personal to your brand.

9. Use your logo:

Adding your logo to any photo or graphic you share can increase your brands awareness and spot on your followers mind. You want to be T.O.M (top of mind), and the addition of your logo can be a great way to do this. It also brands your content so that if it is shared, you will still have credit as the original creator.

10. Quotes:

Last, but certainly not least, quotes are an easy way to fill up your content calendar. Whether you have a favourite quote from a novel, or a list you pulled from the web, quotes are a great way to inspire your followers. Try to keep your quotes relevant for your business, and uniform. Create a template with your brand colours/ fonts, and plug your fav quotes in. this can be done with a tool like Canva, or any graphic creator.
